Tips for Toothbrush Hygiene with or without Covid
1. Practice proper toothbrush hygiene even if you think you’re fine. Not everyone who has COVID-19 shows symptoms.
2. If you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or think you may be sick, isolate your toothbrush and tongue cleaner just like you’d isolate yourself from the family.
3. Avoid side-by-side storage of toothbrush and tongue cleaner.
4. While taking out the toothpaste don’t touch the tip of tube.
5. Replace your toothbrush and tongue cleaner with a new one after getting infected with COVID. If using electric toothbrush change the tip. Change your toothbrush and tongue cleaner after 20 days of getting the first symptoms.
6. Always disinfect the handle of the toothbrush properly after using.
7. Use mouthwash or betadene gargle to reduce build-up of virus/bacteria in the mouth. If a mouthwash is not available, rinsing the mouth with warm saline water also works fine. Remember to rinse mouth twice daily and mostly after returning back from outside.
Betadene gargle 1:1 ratio reduces the viral and bacterial load to a great extent.
